The International Institute is a statewide nonprofit organization that assists refugees and immigrants resolve legal, economic, linguistic and social barriers so that they become self-sufficient, integrated and contributing members of the community. The Institute achieves this mission by providing a compassionate array of high-quality legal, social and educational programming and by promoting cross-cultural understanding and decent treatment for all.

Volunteer Responsibility: 
Full representation, co-counsel representation, and/or limited scope representation in Federal Court., Full representation, co-counsel representation and/or limited scope representation., Writing, Drafting, Legal Research., In-office legal assistance and legal support (e.g. client interviews, eligibility intake, preparation of educational materials).
Volunteer Opportunity Description: 

IICONN Pro Bono Attorneys make a vital difference in the lives of vulnerable low income immigrants, including:

  • Asylum-seekers fleeing persecution in their home countries.
  • Individuals who have been physically or emotionally abused.
  • Victims of crime.
  • Victims of trafficking.
  • Juveniles who have been found to be abandoned, neglected, or abused by family member.

Pro bono attorneys provide direct representation in immigration matters on behalf of IICONN.

The volunteer can perform his or her responsibilities remotely.
